Attorney Profile

James is a seasoned trial attorney with more than two decades of experience trying cases on both sides of the court room.  James’ litigation experience ranges across a broad spectrum of cases including financial frauds, weapons possession, narcotics trafficking, money laundering, insurance fraud and public corruption in state and federal courts of New York.   

After graduating from Cardozo School of Law, James started his career as an Assistant District Attorney in the New York County District Attorney's Office under the esteemed leadership of Robert Morgenthau. During his 10-year tenure with the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, James initially handled all areas of criminal prosecutions and investigations in Trial Division.  He later joined the Cybercrime and Identity Theft Unit, and then moved up to the Money Laundering and Tax Crimes Unit in the Investigation Division of the Office.  

During his time with the Money Laundering and Tax Crimes Unit, James investigated and prosecuted complex white-collar criminal cases including money laundering, tax evasion, scheme to defraud, corporate identity theft, falsifying business records, insurance fraud, and conspiracy. While appointed to Cybercrime and Identity Theft Unit, James was responsible for investigating and prosecuting identity theft and complex high-technology crimes, including bank fraud, cyber impersonation, and cyber credit card fraud.

After 10 years as a prosecutor, James joined the office of the late Jack G. Goldberg, a veteran criminal defense attorney with vast experience and knowledge in all federal and state criminal matters.  Under Mr. Goldberg's tough-as-nails tutelage, James transitioned to a passionate and dedicated criminal defense attorney.

James is admitted to the State Bar of New York, the Southern District of New York, and the Eastern District of New York. James is a member of the New York City Criminal Bar Association and the New York State Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys. James is a life-long New Yorker and currently resides in Greenwich Village with his wife and son.
